Release notes
SQ Manager follows semantic-ish versioning: MAJOR.MINOR.PATCH. MAJOR bumps break the on-device API; MINOR bumps add features and additive fields; PATCH bumps are bug fixes only. The build code (the long number you see in About → Versions) is the Android versionCode and is monotonic per build.
v1.0.0 First public release - available now
First release of SQ Manager. Built around a single Android device that runs the queue server in the foreground and a small web dashboard that the front-desk team opens on a tablet, a phone or a desktop browser on the same Wi-Fi.
New Queue server on Android
- Run the queue server on any Android 7.0+ device (API 24+). No PC server, no Docker, no cloud account.
- Foreground service keeps the server alive while the screen is off and across battery-saver conditions.
- On-device web server exposes the dashboard at the same URL printed on the QR code - point any browser on the same Wi-Fi at it.
New Ticket kiosk
- Service tiles with English / Bahasa Malaysia labels rendered from the same configuration file.
- Thermal-printer support over Bluetooth and USB (ESC/POS-compatible 58 mm and 80 mm printers).
- Bilingual receipt with a configurable footer (for branch code, address, ID-not-collected notice, etc.).
New Queue display
- Big-number waiting-room display. Now-serving strip, marquee for branch announcements, "your ticket is up" flash.
- Live updates over WebSocket. Falls back to long-poll if WebSocket is blocked by the network.
- Idle screen with branch logo and current queue depth when there is no live activity.
New Workstation (counter) app
- Per-counter configuration - which services this counter serves, FIFO / priority / VIP call strategy.
- One-tap Call next, Recall, Skip, No-show, Transfer.
- Customer feedback prompt at end-of-service, captured to the device (never uploaded).
New Dashboard
- Browser-based dashboard with role-based access (View, View + Call, View + Call + Edit, View + Download, View + Reset, Inaccessible).
- Reports: served-today, average wait, per-service and per-counter breakdowns, export to CSV.
- Live queue wall, in-line ticket editing, audit log per dashboard user.
New Local-first storage
- All queue data lives on the device. Backups exported from the in-app backup tool are plain ZIP archives you can copy off the device.
- In-app Restore reads the same ZIP. Restoring a backup on a fresh device is the only supported way to migrate data today.
New In-app update checker
- Checks for new versions of every installed SQ Manager module (system, dashboard, virtual kiosk, ticket kiosk, queue display) and offers a one-tap update for each.
- Updates stream over HTTPS from a static bucket we operate. No silent background downloads.
Fixed Initial release (no fixes yet)
This is the first public release, so the "fixed" section is empty by definition. If you hit a bug, please email admin@squeue.net with the build code (visible in About → Versions) and a one-paragraph description.
Known issues
- On Android 14+ devices, the in-app update flow may need the user to grant the "Install unknown apps" permission the first time. The setup flow surfaces the system dialog; if you dismiss it, the update can still be downloaded and side-loaded manually.
- Some older Bluetooth thermal printers need a one-time pairing step in Android Settings before SQ Manager can see them. The printer list in Settings → Printer shows only paired printers.
- The dashboard's WebSocket connection assumes the device and the browser are on the same network segment. If a corporate VPN or a guest Wi-Fi isolates clients, switch to the LAN the queue device is on.
Security
- Dashboard passwords are stored as salted hashes (Argon2id via the open-source libs we ship).
- No third-party analytics or crash reporter is bundled. See the Privacy Policy for the full data-handling note.
